Here you can read how Vilde is doing halfway through his internship Written by Vilde Langaas Wegner Published in Internship Wednesday April, last updated Wednesday March , My way to Internship at UNHCR in Geneva In the spring of , I applied for an internship with UNHCR in Geneva. There were two places to apply for, one in Public Outreach and one in the Campaign Section. There were several of us who applied and got through to interviews.
During my interview it emerged that UNHCR was also looking for an intern for its Visitors Centre. I secured that internship. workplace. I have been here since the middle of June and I will be here until the New Year. In the Visitors Centre, the work consists of planning, organizing and carrying out large moible number data and small presentations and lectures for various groups. The majority of the visitors consist of university students who are either on a study tour or taking part in a course.
We also welcome younger students, as well as groups from varying professions and sectors with an interest in UNHCR s work. As the groups of visitors are very varied, we find different colleagues to talk to the different groups. We also accept individuals. My colleague Tiruhi, who is also an intern at the Visitors Centre, and I meet and take care of these. We often start by showing a short film about UNHCR s work and history, before we tell more and answer questions. Exciting meetings and conversations People from all over the world come here.
